Malachi.

< Malachi KWL. >

Malachi 2.

Ml 2.13-16:
Get hold, and get rid, of your anger.
13 This second thing you do: Tears cover the LORD’s altar, weeping and groaning
because he doesn’t look at your offering or take gifts from your hand.
14 You say, “Why?” Because the LORD witnessed between you and the woman of your youth.
You deceived her. She’s your partner, your woman by covenant.
15 Didn’t God make them one, giving his Spirit to them?
Why’d he want them one? So they’d produce godly seed.
Watch out in your spirit. Don’t deceive the woman of your youth.
16 For Israel’s LORD God says he hates divorce.
“It covers people with chaos like clothing,” says the LORD of War.
Watch out in your spirit. Don’t deceive yourselves.

Malachi 3.

Ml 3.1-4:
The ministry of John the baptist.
1 “Look at me. I send out my angel. He’ll redirect the way before my face.
Suddenly the Master whom you seek will come to his temple.
The covenant angel, whom you delight in: Look, he comes!” says the LORD of War.
2 “Who can hold back the day he comes? Who can stand before his appearance?
For he’s like a refinery. Like being washed in lye. 3 He stays to refine and clean silver:
He washes Levi’s descendants, purifying them like gold and silver.
They’ll be offerings to the LORD, approaching him righteously.
4 Judah and Jerusalem’s offering will be sweet to the LORD like the old days, like previous years.”

Ml 3.8-12:
Tithing: Enjoying one’s firstfruits with God.
Ml 3.8-10:
So… how do churches pay for stuff?
8 “Does any human cheat God like all of you cheat me?
You say, ‘How do we cheat you?’ In tithes. In offerings.
9 You’ve cursed yourselves. The whole nation is cheating me.
10 Bring your whole tithe to my treasury: There’s unclean food in my house!
Please test me in this,” says the LORD of War.
See if I don’t open heaven’s floodgates and pour down blessing till you overflow.
11 I rebuke the blight for you: It won’t ruin your crops.
It won’t kill the vines in your field,” says the LORD of War.
12 “Every nation will call you happy,
and consider you a land of delight,” says the LORD of War.

Malachi 4.

Ml 4.5-6:
One heck of a birth announcement.
5 “Look: I send the prophet Elijah to you
when the great, fearful LORD’s Day comes.
6 He’ll restore the parents’ hearts to their children,
and the children’s hearts to their parents,
—or I’ll come and smite the land with my Ban.”
